C10 – Surge and Inflow Protection

Colin Kirkland, Product Manager at Bermad, introduces the Surge Protection and Inflow Protection attachments for the C10 Air Valve.

Air intake upon starting a pump is a common issue which can cause stalling. This has been addressed with the C10 IP (Inflow Protection) attachment, which allows air to exit, but not enter, the pipeline.
In the event of power failure or rapid flow changes, column charge in a pump discharge can generate water hammer. The C10 SP (Surge Protection) attachment controls this phenomenon by allowing large quantities of air to flow into the system upon pump failure, and offering a controlled discharge of air when the pump restarts.
These two products are great additions in helping to safeguard your pipeline, pump station and irrigation system.
